Does Junk Food and Chocolate Cause Pimples?

what causes pimplesBelief: Pimples are caused if you eat too much junk food and sweets, especially chocolate
Truth: Your diet will not directly cause bad skin, pimples and acne breakouts. However, a junk food or fast food diet or one that is full of too many refined sugars (like in sweets and chocolates) may rob your body of the vital ingredients it needs to be healthy. You simply wrap an ice cube in a wash cloth and place it on the affected area of your skin, for up to 15 minutes at a time.

For even better results, try applying a little benzoyl peroxide to the blemish before using the ice; the cold helps the benzoyl peroxide absorb into your skin more effectively.

As shown in the video above, aspirin is a really effective home remedy! Take one uncoated aspirin, crush it and add a little water to make it into a paste. Apply a small amount, just enough to cover the blemish – and leave it overnight. The salicylic acid in the aspirin is what really helps to zap those zits!

Zinc is a well-known anti-inflammatory, which is why it is a common ingredient in so many over the counter skin treatment products. Look for a pimple pen containing zinc, or if you have a tube of diaper ointment at home that contains zinc, try this instead. All you need to do is dab a little to the affected skin just before you go to bed. When you wake up in the morning, the appearance of the treated blemishes should be greatly reduced.
