Perhaps it is time to go back to basics and try making some of your own, homemade remedies for pimples, spots and acne. These are an inexpensive and effective solution if you suffer from acne (frequent, extensive breakouts of spots and blemishes) or just have one irritating spot that won’t go away, even if you have tried many over the counter treatments or prescription drugs.
It can be frustrating and stressful when even these strong treatments don’t work. You probably already have many of the ingredients in your store cupboard or refrigerator for many of the tried and tested home made pimple remedies; everything else is readily available to buy from health food stores or supermarkets.
A Home Remedy For Pimples Is Simple To Make!
Orange Peel Remedy
One of the simplest but most effective home treatments for zits and other blemishes is made by pounding orange or pomegranate peels and mixing it with water.
Apply the mixture to the skin for at least half an hour. Substitute the water with lime juice for an even more effective treatment.
Basil Leaves Treatment
Mix three teaspoons of dried basil leaves with one cup of water and boil it for 20 minutes. After letting it cool, apply the mixture to the blemishes and leave it for at least half an hour.
Fenugreek Leaves Masque
Crush fenugreek leaves and add just enough water to create a paste. Apply the paste to the affected skin before bed and wash it off with warm water first thing the following morning.
Using Garlic Juice on Pimples
Some people swear by rubbing raw garlic over a breakout spot several times over the course of a day, claiming that it clears up the skin.
Another way to use garlic to treat pimples, which is less smelly, is to eat three raw garlic seeds, which purify the blood, every day for a month.
There are also over the counter skin care preparations that contain garlic.
Cucumber Masque
Grate cucumber and place it over the pimples, then relax for 15-20 minutes.
If you don’t have cucumber, rub ripe tomato pulp or raw papaya juice over the skin.
Zap those Zits with Coriander or Mint
A zit-zapping juice can be made from coriander or mint. Mix one teaspoon of coriander juice or mint juice with a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply the juice to the affected area before going to bed, after thoroughly washing the skin.
What Else Can I Try?
Home remedies are popular with many people because they do not involve the use of chemicals on the skin. This is one reason why many people are turning to high tech solutions such as photo facial machines that treat skin conditions effectively but without chemicals. These machines initially were for use by Dermatologists and Estheticians only but nowadays there are plenty of machines designed for home use.

Add a little ground nutmeg to a cup of raw milk and mix well. Apply it to the affected area and leave it for a couple of hours. This method is believed to help reduce the appearance of acne scars as well as treating existing pimples.
Sprinkle a generous helping of Epsom bath salts into hot running water and soak in the tub twice per week to help get rid of pimples and acne.
Aloe Vera Juice is a very healing natural product that you can use on your skin. Many soothing skin preparations available commercially contain this product.
You can also drink Aloe Juice for digestive problems, so it is very gentle and safe. If you have an Aloe Vera plant, you can snip a small piece off a leaf and dab the cut edge onto your blemishes for an instant soothing effect.
Egg whites (make sure you only use the whites, not the yolks as well!), can be used beaten and then applied to the skin like a face mask. Leave on for around fifteen minutes before rinsing off and your blemishes should appear reduced. In addition, for women with more mature skin, the egg whites have a natural tightening effect that can temporarily reduce the appearance of lines. Don’t use if you are allergic to eggs though!
Taking Natural Dietary Supplements For Your Skin Health
In addition to these homemade remedies, many people find adding certain vitamin supplements to their diets reduces the appearance and severity of their breakouts. Niacin, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and therapeutic zinc are considered to have a positive effect on pimples. Consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing health issues or want further advice about taking vitamin supplements.
